About Jhalana Leopard Safari
Jhalana Leopard Safari Park is located on the outskirts of Jaipur and is one of India’s most successful leopard conservation reserves. Despite its proximity to the city, Jhalana offers a rich forest ecosystem with rocky hills, dry deciduous vegetation, and natural water bodies.
The park is especially known for its high leopard density, making sightings frequent throughout the year. Apart from leopards, visitors may also spot striped hyenas, desert foxes, jungle cats, nilgai, spotted deer, and over 150 species of birds.
Jhalana Leopard Safari is ideal for travelers looking for a short yet thrilling wildlife experience near Jaipur.
Safari Timings, Zones & Experience
Jhalana Leopard Safari operates in two shifts every day – morning and evening. Each safari lasts approximately 2.5 to 3 hours and is conducted in an open 4x4 gypsy accompanied by an experienced forest-approved driver and local tracker.
The safari route covers forest trails, rocky terrain, and natural watering points where leopards are frequently sighted. Being a compact reserve, Jhalana offers excellent visibility and a higher probability of sightings compared to larger national parks.
Safaris are conducted under strict forest department regulations to ensure wildlife safety and sustainable tourism.
Best Time to Visit & Safari Tips
The best time to visit Jhalana Leopard Safari is from October to June, when leopard movement is more frequent and visibility is high. Early morning and late afternoon safaris generally offer the best chances of sightings.
Visitors are advised to wear neutral-colored clothing, carry sunglasses, and avoid bright colors during the safari. Mobile phones should be kept on silent mode, and photography should be done without flash.
Booking in advance is recommended due to limited gypsy availability per shift.
